Undead Wedding Cakes: putting the death back into ’till death do us part’
Posted by admin on Mar 30, 2009 in Links and Inspiration | 1 commentI apologise to y’all that I missed this one until now. CakeWreck’s has been deep in discussion about Undead Wedding Cakes this week. Her first post, aptly titled Romance is Dead, showcases some doozies of undead cakes. The strange foot tag one really got me. I mean, what?
The comments thread got quite heated – it reminds me of the Tacky Weddings discussions a few months ago, about Goth Weddings. I’m gonna stay out of this one, except to say that what’s awesome to one person may be weird or scary to another – and Cake Wrecks is clearly a lighthearted site – I think if I were a baker I’d be proud to have one of my creations up there
It’s all in good funĀ - no one’s hating on goths or zombie-lovers.
In her Sunday Sweets section, she’s redeemed the undead cake with some beautiful creations. In response, Art of Darkness has posted a rather thorough post of fantastic gothic cakes. If you’re looking for wedding cake inspiration – I suggest you look through these links. Stunning!

I love your blog! (And thanks for stopping by mine!)
I think that gothic weddings are fantastic! I think the important thing to remember about weddings is that they are what the couple wants and that they are a celebration of two people who love each other. Some people get all tied up in the idea of perfection- white dresses, veils, big white cakes… but that’s not everyone’s style. Amen to people who are comfortable enough with themselves to have fun and express their personal style, even if it’s unconventional!
(My wedding was pumpkin-themed. Our cake was sculpted to look like a stack of pumpkins!)
