Skully Wedding: Ebony and Preston’s Vintage Halloween Wedding
Posted by admin on Mar 31, 2009 in Halloween Wedding, Skully Weddings | 0 commentsIt’s been too long since we last featured a Skully Wedding. We need more awesome real weddings, readers!
I’m always partial to a fun Halloween Wedding, so here’s one of the best I’ve ever seen. Ebony and Preston Parish married in October 2008, and their wedding should go down in history as one of the sweetest, most fun-looking, best decorated shindig ever.
Have a look…if you dare.

Now THAT'S love
WHO BE YOU:
Mr. & Mrs. Parish of Connecticut. Mr. Parish is the creative director of Iconotronic Music Publishing & I am an artist & stay at home mom.
WHAT MAKES YOUR DAY A ‘SKULLY WEDDING’?
Mr. Parish & I were determined to create a fun, festive, vintage, Halloween wedding. We wanted our wedding to capture our creativity, humor, & style.
We started off by finding the venue which was The Litchfield Inn, an elegant Colonial style venue tucked away in the hills of Connecticut. This location was perfect because we could perform the ceremony & the reception in the same place allowing our guests to go back in time to an old Hallows Eve with out interruption.

The Litchfield Inn
The Inn replaced all of the wall sconces light bulbs with flickering lights to add to the mood. A couple of strategically placed decorations, a magician, a tarot card reader, & we had ourself a bionafied Skully wedding!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE WEDDING DETAILS:
Our invitations included a thing called a MAGIC FLYER. These are wind up butterflies that fly out of your envelope when you open it. People loved this detail & it made them wonder what adventures lay ahead!

Ticky halloween wedding invitations. I love the magic flyers!
My gown was of course one of my favorite wedding details. Being French victorian style it had some what of a costume look, but it did not lose the charm of a wedding dress.

Ebony's beautiful white wedding dress
If you look closely at my dress you can see that the lace has a spider web design. To add even more of a Halloween twist to my dress I had orange, purple, black, and clear Swarovski crystals added all over.
The outfit that is most dear to my heart and probably my favorite detail of all is my (almost) 2 year old son’s suit. I designed it for him and my mother & I made it into a tangible reality. I am very proud of it & he looked amazing!

The cutest little dude EVER
Another cool wedding detail were the M&M’s my husband & I had our faces put on. We thought this would be a great addition to a Halloween wedding sense we all know its a day full of TREATS!
The same picture placed on the M&M’s was also used on an artificial pumpkin we had sitting on the seating cards table.

Personalized M&Ms! How cool is that?
The cake was the sweetest part of the wedding! It was a four teared pumpkin spice with cream cheese frosting cake that I designed!

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT:
Walking down the isle to a song that my husband & I recorded together was one of the most romantic moments.
Looking around & seeing Mr. & Mrs. Claus, a storm trooper, pirates & more was like being in my very own fairy tale.

Awwwww
Looking towards the man I was destined to spend the rest of this life with knowing how deep his love is for me & mine for him.

The guests really got into the spirit of the wedding
Hearing my son in the audience and having all of our close family & friends in one place to share this special day, the list goes on & on!

Some Awesome costumes!
One of the most fun moments was when my husband & I broke out into a choreographed THRILLER dance right in the middle of our slow dance which was the Edward Scissorhands theme song. Everyone was shocked & it was nice to be able to play a TRICK on so many people at once on Halloween!

Thriller!
ANY ADVICE FOR WEDDING SKULLS?
HAVE FUN! Dont let this day become a nightmare. Roll with the punches! Things will go wrong but its how you react to them that will determine how you remember your day!
If you are planning a themed wedding keep in mind it entails a little extra work & creativity. Don’t go too overboard or your wedding may wind up looking like a prop shop instead of an elegant unique event!

Table Decor
Pick a theme that is very specific & if something doesnt fit don’t use it! I specifically chose VINTAGE halloween in order to keep a consistent feel through out the night.
Start with a color pallete and build everything around that. I used the same orange ribbon with white dots on everything.
Most of all, remember why you are having a wedding in the first place!
