She’s a Mod: shopping at Mod Cloth
Posted by admin on Mar 11, 2009 in Alternative Wedding, Punk Rock Wedding, Rockabilly Wedding, Skully Shopping | 2 commentsMy FIL talks about the old days, when he used to walk down the road to watch The Who, and he wore these horrible wing-tip shoes. According to him, you either liked The Who, and you were a Mod, or you liked The Rolling Stones, and you were a Rocker. And never the twain should meet. It was like emos and…non emos.
I must confess that I’m not an expert on ‘Mod’ style, but I have a friend who wears these kind of clothes and she always looks FABULOUS. I’m emailing her right now to tell her about Mod Cloth.
Mod Cloth sell everything the modern mod needs. For the mod wedding, I recommend this 40s/50s Calender Girl Dress or the Charlotte Dress – perfect for Art Galleries, apparently
Accessorize with these Romantic Lace Gloves, and any pair of these glorious shoes.
Just look at this! A Derby hat! How cute is that? I totally want one!

Cover Girl's Derby Hat, $24.99, from Mod Cloth.
And if that’s not enough to get you riled up for beating up those pesky rockers, check out their Mod Life Blog, full to bursting with Mod runway styles, top-ten lists, street fashion, recipes, and Mod talk – probably lots of rocker dissin’, but we’ll forgive that
I really enjoyed browing around the Mod Cloth website, especially because it’s brought an entirely new subculture to my attention. Any mod girls or guys out there? Speak up! I’d LOVE to know more.

Heh. It must be different in the States. My husband liked The Who and The Stones about equally (and in the past couple of years he’s dragged me to see them both in concert). I’ll have to ask him about the mod/rocker breakdown.
Cute derby!
I think it is a lot different – I know so little about it I could have it completly wrong, but I remember that being what FIL said. I shall have to ask him more about it.
That derby hat is so cute – doesn’t seem a bad price, either
