Vampire Cupcakes!

Nicole’s got dozens of other tutorials for DIY halloween treats, including Vampire Cookies, Halloween Treat ideas, and these adorable gingerbread skeletons!

If you’re even remotely interested in baking I suggest you check out Nicole’s blog. She’s always posting unique and delicious recipes, as well as tips and news from the world of baking and recipe book reviews. Nicole is one smart cookie (sorry, couldn’t resist) who holds a BA in Linguistics from UC Berkeley as well as a professional pastry certificate from the LA New School of Cooking.

She does all the cooking, baking, writing and photography on the blog herself, although if she did ALL the tasting, she wouldn’t be able to keep her figure Vampire Cupcakes

Seeing all the vampire stuff around these days makes me wonder how long until I have some Twilight weddings up on the blog.

East Side Bride wrote a fantastic rant the other day about judging people by their wedding budgets.

A lot of judging goes on in wedding forums and on wedding blogs. It used to be that holier-than-thou attitude extended towards the types of people who read this blog (alternative couples planning non-traditional weddings, often on a serious budget) but now the shoe is on the other foot. Low budget brides are calling out their high-priced sisters, saying that spending too much money on the wedding means not investing enough in the marriage.

I don’t have to tell y’all that this just plain sucks. No one should be dissing ANYONE’S wedding, budget or extravagent or gothic or swam-themed or otherwsie. Everyone should be able to plan their wedding online, read the forums and the blog, divine inspiration from the wonderful pictures and stories without feeling offended by careless words.

East Side Bride says it better, but I just wanted to echo her thoughts. Your Wedding budget is no reflection on your relationship or the length and happiness or your marriage.

You’re not in competition with other brides. You don’t need to drag their weddings down to make yours better – yours is already the best wedding in the world, because YOU are there, and your beloved, and you’re getting married! THAT’S the important thing!

As Liz, one of the commenters on East Side Bride, said:

“The only good weddings are weddings where people are in love.”

Recently, I was interviewed on Jolt’s Ramblings blog about Wedding Skulls, steampunk and selling ebooks on Etsy. You might remember wirefox, the seller I [intlink id="450" type="post"]featured[/intlink] a couple of months ago who makes the Grim Postcards. Well, Jolt Ramblings is her blog, and I’m honoured to be featured over there.

Here’s a little snippet from the interview:

3. If you could have a steam punk style romantic getaway, how would it be, where would you go, how would you get there, and why?

Ooh, what an excellent question. I’d take a steam train journey – either across the Australian desert or along the orient express, stopped everywhere to look at museums and take pictures in the epic scenery.

To read the rest, visit wirefox’s A Gothic Punk Ebook Wedding post.

In the Wedding Skulls etsy shop, I will be raising the prices of all my copywriting packages next monday, so if you were interested in one, I’d get in this week, before the prices go up.

Wedding Skulls is, as always, in a state of flux. You can see, I’m doing more posts on general stuff, less on weddings. I think it’s important when you’re planning a wedding to be excited about other projects and activities too, so I try to provide a few here Wedding Skulls interview by Wirefox I’m loving fashion blogs at the moment, so please don’t let me get carried away trying to turn Wedding Skulls into the next Gala Darling!

If you have any thoughts of what you’d like to see more of on the blog? More featured shops? More interviews? More guests? More random ramblings? More links to crazy odd things? More DIY tutorials? More Skully Weddings? More alternative fashion/decor/subculture, etc? More advice columns? More stuff about Steff?

Let me know! Steff out.

I’m just dropping by to let you all know about this hilarious new blog Goths in Hot Weather.

It’s a blog about … exactly what the title suggests. Goths on the beach, with drooping mohawks, running makeup, fishnet sunburn, and all the other wonderful misadventures that come with the summer months. I do love the pic of the goth girl with her ice cream, though.

I’ve always said Goth is NOT a summer fashion.
